Extend Your Parking
The Extend Your Parking feature sends automated expiration notifications to users, giving them the opportunity to extend their active temporary parking permits before time runs out. System administrators can configure a global default notification time, while registered end-users can customize their personal notification preferences. This article is intended for OPSCOM administrators.
Setup and Configuration
Administrators establish the system-wide default lead time for permit expiration notices. Note that users can overwrite the default setting by signing into their account.
Setting the Default Notification Time
-
Open the System Configuration menu.
-
Select System Settings.
-
Under the Components list on the left side, click Temp Permits.
-
Locate the Default Permit Notification Time drop-down menu.
-
Choose your desired default lead time (e.g., 10 Minutes prior to expiration).
-
Click Save Settings.
Best Practices and Considerations
-
User Preference Overrides: A user's personal profile selection Parking Expiry Reminder will always take precedence over the global Default Permit Notification Time.
-
Account Requirement: Expiration notifications and extensions apply only to signed-in, registered users. Guest checkouts do not support reminders or extensions.
-
Supported Channels: Applies to temporary permits purchased via the User Portal, Real-Time Parking Map, or QR Code express checkout.
-
Recommended Setting: A lead time of 10–15 minutes gives users sufficient time to process an extension before permit expiration.
