Missing Property Types

  1. Click 

    Admin Options, Incidents and Missing Property Types.Types
     allows administrators to define and categorize different kinds of missing or stolen property (e.g., Electronics, Jewelry, Documents) within incident reports. This feature enables detailed and structured data collection for lost or stolen items, enhancing the accuracy of incident documentation and supporting investigations.

  2. The Edit Missing Property Types and Fields page willallows display.you Youto candefine edit,both retrievethe and/orbroad addcategories a new Property Type.

  3. To add a newof missing property type:and the specific details (fields) you want to collect for each category.

    1. Hover over System ConfigurationIncidents, and click Missing Property Types.
      Adding a Type
      1. Click the Add Type button, and the page will refresh. button.
      2. Type the typename of missing property infor the textbox provided.
      3. When finished, click Save Type. It will now say SAVED across the bottom.

    4. To edit a missing property type: 

    • Select thenew missing property type you wish to edit from the drop-down menu, thenand click "Retrieve"Add New.

  1. Click View Fields next to the propertyProperty type,Type andyou fieldswant associated with it. Toto add a field toto.

  3. Click property, click on "Add New Field".Field.
  4. Type in the Field Name in(e.g., the"Serial textbox,Number," select"Color," "Brand").
  5. Select the Field Type from the dropdown menu (i.ee.g., checkbox,checkbox, textbox, dropdown, etc.).

  7. Select whether or not it isrequired field by clicking on the Required box.checkbox.
  8. Once you have finished, clickClick SaveAdd FieldNew to save.save the new field.

5. To delete a missing property type:

    1. SelectClick the name of the property type you wish to deletechange.
    2. from
    3. Change the drop down menu,name and click Retrieve.Save Changes.
    4. Click the View Fields button if you want to edit any fields associated to this.
    Deleting 

    Deleting a missing property type is a two-step process if it has associated fields.

    1. If there are noNO fields found associated with that property,property: youYou can immediately click Delete Property Type.

  • If there areARE fields found associated with that property,property: select
      the
    • Click DeleteView checkboxFields attached to that field,and then click SaveDelete All. 
    • TheClick fieldSave attachedChanges to that property will be deleted. You may then followdelete the aboveselected instructionsfields.
    • Follow step one to Delete Property Type the property type. .

  • Best Practices & Considerations

    • Structured Data Collection: Use fields within each property type to ensure structured and consistent data collection for stolen or missing items (e.g., for "Electronics," you might add fields for "Make," "Model," "Serial Number").
    • Clear and Concise Names: Use descriptive names for both property types and their fields to improve usability and clarity for officers filling out incident reports.
    • Required Fields: Carefully consider which fields are truly Required to avoid unnecessary data entry burden while ensuring critical information is captured.
    • Data Integrity: Remember that a property type cannot be deleted if it has associated fields. This mechanism helps prevent orphaned data and ensures the integrity of your incident records.
    • Reporting Value: Well-defined missing property types and their fields can significantly enhance the quality of reports, aiding in investigations and property recovery efforts.
