Extend Your Parking

TheĀ Extend Your Parking feature sends automated expiration notifications to users, giving them the opportunity to extend their active temporary parking permits before time runs out. System administrators can configure a global default notification time, while registered end-users can customize their personal notification preferences. This article is intended for OPSCOM administrators.

Setup and Configuration

Administrators set the system-wide default lead time for permit expiration notices.

Setting the Default Notification Time (Admin Side)

  1. In the admin portal, open the System Configuration menu.

  2. Select System Settings.

  3. Under the Components list on the left side, click Temp Permits.

  4. Locate the Default Permit Notification Time drop-down menu.

  5. Choose your desired default lead time (e.g., 10 Minutes prior to expiration).

  6. Click Save Settings.

End-User Customization

End-users can override the administrator's default notification time to suit their personal preferences.

Configuring Expiry Reminders (User Portal)

  1. Log into the user portal and click Your Profile in the left sidebar menu.

  2. Select the User Settings tab on the Profile Information page.

  3. Use the Parking Expiry Reminder drop-down menu to choose a custom notification window (e.g., 10 minutes).

  4. Click Save Changes.

Best Practices and Considerations

  • Signed-In Users Only: Expiration notifications and permit extensions are available strictly to registered, signed-in users. Guest purchasers cannot receive reminders or extend permits.
  • Supported Purchase Channels: Reminders apply when registered users buy temporary permits through the User Side App, Real-Time Parking Map, or QR Code Express checkout.

  • Optimal Lead Times: A default lead time of 10 to 15 minutes gives users adequate time to process an extension payment before enforcement action occurs.
