Real-Time Parking Map

ThisThe article describes the setup and use of the Real-Time Parking Map. ThisMap feature provides a publicly accessible, interactive map displaying real-time lot availability,availability. allowingIts primary purpose is to allow users to easily find parking and purchase temporary permits directly.directly from the interface, while simultaneously providing administrators with live lot statistics. This article is intended for OPS-COM administrators.

Setup &and Configuration

Setting up the map requires creating a public-facing page and then configuring each lot that you want to display on that map.

First,To to haveuse this enabled,feature, you willmust need tofirst contact an OPSCOMOPS-COM support staff member,member and have them enable it on your production system.

Step 1:

If you would like to display the map on any other system messaging pages, such as the user login screen, or anywhere else, follow thethese instructions below; instructions:

1. NavigateHover toover System Configuration,Configuration, thenclick Content & Designs, and clickthen Pages and Content Blocks.Blocks.

2. Create a new page (or edit an existing one)one that will host the map.

3. InAdd the [real-time-map] and [real-time-legend] shortcodes into the content areaarea, of this page, add the following two shortcodes,ensuring each is on its own line:

   • [real-time-map]line.

Step 2:

Configure Individual Lots 

For each lot you want to display on the map, you must configure theits followingmap marker and temporary permit settings.

1. First,Hover goover toParking Management, hover over Lot Administration, and click Pricing and Lot Admin.

   • In the Zones and Location tab:

     • Select the lot you wish to edit and setclick athe mapZones marker.and Location tab.

     • EnterSet a map marker and enter a public-facing description in the Location field.

      

   • Now that you have set a map marker and location;

     • Go toClick the Temporary Parking tab.tab for the selected lot.

     • Set the Maximum number of Temp Permits, a 30-day usage setting, and the Daily Cost and Hourly costs.

     • Enable the Allow this lot to appear on the Real-Time Parking Map checkbox.checkbox to finalize its visibility.

Step 3: Optional -

Configure Special Spots

 (Optional)

1. GoHover toover Lot Administration and selectclick Manage Special Space Types.

2. Click the Add New button to create informational categories such as 'Electric Vehicle Charging' or 'Handicapped Accessible'.

3. Navigate back to Lotthe Administrationspecific lot within the Pricing and selectLot theAdmin lot you wish to update.module.

4. Go toClick the General tab and enter the number of spaces available for each Special Space Type.

Using this Feature

Once configured, the map is immediately accessible to both the public for finding and purchasing parking, and to administrators for viewing live lot statistics.

Public User View

1. The map is accessibleNavigate to the public atmap theURL URL:(e.g., [https://yourdomain.parkadmin.com/real-timetime](https://yourdomain.parkadmin.com/real-time)).

2. Users can hoverHover over a map marker to quickly see the lot name and description.

3. ClickingClick a map marker displaysto display detailed availability,availability and information about special spots,spots.

4. Click the Book Now button. Clicking this button directsto themproceed directly to the temporary permit purchase screen.

Administrator View

1. Administrators can view the map internally by hoveringHover over Parking Management and clickingclick Real-Time Map. to open the internal view.

2. The admin view is similar to the public map, but clickingClick on the map markers willto display moredisplay detailed lot statistics.

Best Practices &and Considerations

• Verify temporary parking configurations: The Real-Time Map is specifically designed for temporary parking. A lot will not appear on the map unless all the required fields on the Temporary Parking tab in Lot Administration are correctly filled out and the feature is enabled with the checkbox.

• Write clear public descriptions: Write clear and helpful descriptions in the Location field under Zones and LocationsLocations.. ThisBecause this text is highly visible to the public when they hover over a map markermarker, andit canshould be used to provide useful information,context, like '"Visitor Parking - North Campus'Campus".
