The Application Logout process safely secures the legacy OPS-COM Android application and triggers an automatic synchronization of field data with the main database. Its primary purpose is to protect user accounts and ensure all citations, chalks, and vehicle updates captured during a patrol shift are uploaded to the central server. This article is intended for OPS-COM administrators and field enforcement personnel using the legacy Android application.
Setup and Configuration
The logout process is a core functionality built into the application and requires minimal backend setup.
Admin Side: Administrators must ensure user credentials and permissions are properly maintained in the central portal so field officers can log back in for subsequent shifts.
User Side (Enforcement Staff): Enforcement officers must ensure the handheld unit has an active Wi-Fi or cellular network connection prior to initiating the logoff process to guarantee complete data synchronization.
Using this Feature
Enforcement personnel must complete the logout procedure at the end of every shift or whenever handing off a device to another officer.
Executing the Shutdown Process

Tap Application Logout from the main menu of the OPS-COM application.

Tap OK on the confirmation pop-up message to confirm logoff.

Allow the application to perform the automatic data synchronization before returning to the main login screen.
Logout Without Connectivity If you log off in an area without internet access, the software will still lock securely (requiring a password to sign back in), and all shift data will save locally on the tablet. However, the data will not upload to the server until a manual or startup synchronization occurs when connectivity is restored.
Confirming Data Synchronization

Tap Synchronize Data prior to logging off if you receive an error or suspect recent shift data did not sync automatically.

Tap Replication Status to verify that all pending records have successfully replicated to the main database.

Ensure active connectivity before logging off: Always verify your device has an active internet connection before initiating the logoff process. This ensures all newly created violations and vehicle records immediately sync to the central server.

Complete proper logoff at shift end: Always use the formal Application Logout button rather than simply closing or minimizing the app. Logging off properly secures the application with password protection and prevents unauthorized access to sensitive enforcement records.

Verify replication status: Check the Replication Status screen if you experience network drops during logoff. Confirming that zero unsynced records remain ensures no data is left stored exclusively on the handheld unit.
